It all started with a roll of exposed film I bought off of eBay a while back. Long story short, the photos came out and I was able to use my detective skills to track down the subject of the photos. At the time she was photographed, she was a little girl. Today she’s a married woman with kids of her own and living states away. You can see the photos and read all about it here.
Since then, I’ve had other occasions to develop what I’m calling, “found film.” I often buy old cameras. Sometimes on their own, sometimes in a lot. It’s common to find rolls of film still inside these old cameras. I try to develop them every time. It’s not always successful. But when it is, I post the results on this site.
It’s really exciting to develop a roll of film that’s twenty, thirty, forty years old (and older). And it’s surreal to realize that at that moment, I’m the only person on the planet to have viewed the photos. But then I like to share them with you all!
I thought it would be fun to have a gallery of my favorite images from these rolls of “found film.” Most of the photos in this gallery (but not all) have been previously posted throughout this site. Obvoiusly, none of the photos were taken by me. And in every instance, the original photographer has never seen the images he/she created.
Just like my regulary photo gallery, this will be updated regularly.
