I’ve aquired a number of vintage cameras over the past few months. This one might be the sexiest in my collection. It’s an Agfa Super Silette LK 35mm Rangefinder. It was introduced in 1958 and manufactured in Germany.

I actually own three identical copies of this camera. The first I picked up for $40+shipping on eBay. The second I picked up for a weird $17.82+shipping on eBay. And the third (with a case and flash unit) I picked up locally for $20 through Facebook Marketplace. The last one I bought only because I wanted the case. The extra camera was just a bonus.

The first one I snagged is what I’m using as my working unit. The other two are second string and are sitting out on the bench. I’d previously put a roll of black and white through the Silette with pleasing results.

For my second roll, I cycled through a roll of the common but usable FujiFilm Color 400. Instead of box speed, I rated the film at 800 ASA. Due to the fastest shutter speed on this camera being 1/250, it made it challenging to shoot in broad daylight. But I appreciated being able to shoot indoors and test out the maximum aperature of 2.8 on the Agfa Color Apotar 45mm lens. The focus patch is bright green and allows for super smooth focusing within the viewfinder.

I home developed the film using CineStill CS41 at 102° for 5 1/2 minutes. This roll was also significant because I was testing the camera’s on-deck light meter. The previous roll was shot using either Sunny 16 or the metering app on my phone. The meter did an acceptable job. So did pushing the film a stop. I’ve not corrected any of the posted photos below for noise/grain reduction. A few specks of dust and whatnot (but not all) were taken care of in post, though.
