This camera’s coated 4-element, 3-group Solinar 50mm f/3.5 was Agfa’s top-tier Tessar formula. Because the Super Solinette uses a unit-focusing helical rather than the cheaper front-cell rotation found on the standard Solinette or Isolette, the Solinar punches well above its weight, resolving sharp contrast even wide open.

Like many German cameras of the era, the focus and aperture rings featured subtle red or colored dots. Aligning these provided a universal “snapshot setting” (hyperfocal distance), allowing casual shooters to shoot without using the rangefinder in bright sunlight.

Notes

This camera suffers from the “Dreaded Green Grease” problem. Its focus ring is almost completely hardened, difficult to turn and does not allow for focusing.
