Historical Context

The Kodak Reflex (and its successor, the Reflex II) holds a fascinating place in post-World War II photographic history. Released in 1946 and manufactured until around 1954, it was Eastman Kodak’s ambitious attempt to capture the booming market for twin-lens reflex (TLR) cameras.

The original Kodak Reflex was a well-built, heavy machine made of die-cast aluminum wrapped in black morocco leather. It didn’t feel cheap; it was meant to compete.
