Produced between 1956 and 1960 by the KMZ factory (Krasnogorskiy Mekhanicheskiy Zavod) near Moscow, the Moskva-5 (Москва-5) is a fascinating piece of Soviet engineering. It represents the final, most refined evolution of the Soviet Union’s lineage of 120-roll film folding cameras.

The historical backstory of this camera is directly tied to the end of World War II. As part of post-war reparations, the Soviet Union dismantled and relocated entire German factories, tooling, and designs. The Moskva line is a direct, mechanical descendant of the premium German Zeiss Ikon Super Ikonta C.
