The Yashica FR, introduced in 1976, is a highly significant manual 35mm SLR that bridges the world of affordable consumer electronics and elite German engineering. Following Yashica’s monumental partnership with Carl Zeiss and the design house F.A. Porsche, the FR was built alongside the professional Contax RTS. Under the hood, the FR shares the exact same basic chassis, film transport dynamics, and mechanical footprint as its prestigious Contax sibling, making it a legendary “sleeper” value for SLR enthusiasts.
