Historical Context

The Olympus OM-10, launched in 1979, was a massively important camera for Olympus, designed to bring the magic of the professional, compact OM system to casual consumer photographers. It offered an affordable entry point into a world of incredible glass while maintaining the lightweight, compact philosophy championed by legendary designer Yoshihisa Maitani.

Perhaps the biggest selling point of the OM-10 was that it utilized the standard Olympus OM lens mount. This meant a budget-conscious consumer could mount the exact same ultra-sharp, compact Zuiko lenses used by professional photojournalists shooting on the OM-1 or OM-4.
