Fun Facts

Multiple Identities: To account for different regional markets, it was marketed as the Penta J in the US and Japan, the Reflex J in Australia and the UK, and the Reflex 35 J across mainland Europe.

What Does the “J” Stand For?: Yashica researchers believe the “J” might stand for Jaguar. Yashica had released a fixed-lens rangefinder a year earlier called the Lynx (marketed as the “wildcat” for its agility), and the “J” was seemingly a continuation of that feline naming convention.
